Welcome to Moke Lake horse trekking!

All reasonable steps are taken by Moke Lake horse treks to mitigate accidents, however horse riding, as with any sporting activity, has its risks. When booking a ride with us you will be required to sign a waiver, stating the below terms ands conditions, and that all clients agree to ride at their own risk entirely. Horses are unpredictable animals with a mind of their own and must be treated as such.

All riders are required to wear protective helmets supplied for the entire duration of your activity/trek for your own safety.

We have a weight limit of 85kg, 95kg & 100kg depending on the trek you choose. This is for the welfare, safety and wellbeing of our horses. Moke lake reserves the right to weigh any person/s on the day of the trek, should you be found to be over this limit, you may be refused access to participate in any ride and will not be given a refund on the day.

Personal belongings such as small cameras (go pros) and mobile phones are welcome, although all personal items and valuables brought are the rider’s responsibility and are carried/stored at your own risk. We do not allow drones, large cameras, selfie sticks etc. on any trek – exceptional preplanned circumstances exempt. Moke lake horse treks are not responsible for any breakage or loss of any items. Lost property will be returned at the client’s cost.

Please store all backpacks/handbags or any type of sling bag in your car or our storage unit - they are not aloud to be carried while riding

Please advise our staff of any medical conditions or medication that you need to carry with you. We ask you to notify us of any such conditions that may hinder your ride beforehand, this also includes but is not limited to pregnancy.

Our staff reserves the right to refuse any client they deem high risk, unsafe, rude, intoxicated or dangerous. Refunds will not be given under these circumstances.

For the safety of our staff, horses, other clients and of course yourselves, it is mandatory to have proficient knowledge, understanding and communication of English to participate in any ride we offer. All safety instructions are in English, and it is important to understand and listen to our expert guides for the entirety of our treks to avoid or minimize any mishaps, dangers or risks. No refunds are offered in the case you are turned away due to the breach in policy.

We have a strict no smoking/vaping policy on and around the horses. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in you being asked to leave the premise/activity immediately without refunds/reschedules offered.

Staff reserve the right to ask for proof of age for all children participating in an activity, we ask that you please bring either a passport, birth certificate or other legal document stating the child’s age upon check in. If the child is younger than the minimum age stated on the booking restriction, they will not be aloud to participate, no refunds are offered.
RIDER EXPERIENCE LEVEL

It is important that we are provided with an accurate and true measurement of any rider's ability to ensure we can effectively match you with the correct horse, which is best suited to your individual skills and preferences. This careful pairing is essential for making sure that your riding adventure is as safe and enjoyable as possible with us. If you are feeling unsure about your riding ability, please refer to the guide provided below, or do not hesitate to ask one of our friendly staff members, who are always available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

B (Beginner) - Someone who has never ridden a horse before or has only ridden a few times in a controlled environment. This also applies to nervous riders.
I (Intermediate) - Someone who has at least done 30 + hours in the saddle, can rise to the trot and sit to a canter comfortably. They must be fine controlling their horse over uneven terrain, and independently from the group.
E (Experienced) - Someone who has at least done 60+ hours in the saddle and capable of riding a horse at all paces (walk, trot, canter and gallop), over uneven, complex terrain in an uncontrolled environment.
